🎈 Behind the Scenes: How K-Pop Birthdays Work

Birthday culture in K-pop is legendary, driven by both industry standards and a deeply passionate fandom ecosystem:

The Cupholder Culture: Fans worldwide organize “birthday cafes” at local coffee shops, decorating them with photo cards, custom cup sleeves, and photo zones where fandoms gather to trade merch and celebrate together.

Self-Produced SoundCloud Gifts: Many idols—particularly from self-producing groups like BTS, Stray Kids, and SEVENTEEN—write, record, and release brand-new, self-composed tracks or special cover songs on SoundCloud or YouTube as a reciprocal “gift” to fans on their actual birthdays.
