How to Unsubscribe from Airtel DTH Channels: A Complete, Hassle-Free Guide

Reviewing your monthly DTH bills and realizing you are paying for channels nobody in the house watches is a common annoyance. Fortunately, managing your television lineup and trimming unnecessary costs is straightforward with Airtel Digital TV. Whether you prefer using a smartphone app, sending a quick text, or navigating straight from your TV screen, you can easily unsubscribe from unwanted Airtel channels.

Method 1: Using the Airtel Thanks App (Easiest & Most Visual)

If you have a smartphone, the Airtel Thanks app provides the most transparent interface to see all your active a-la-carte channels and modify your pack.

  1. Open the App: Launch the Airtel Thanks app on your registered mobile phone.
  2. Navigate to DTH: Go to the Manage or Services section on the home page and select your DTH / Digital TV account.
  3. Modify Plan: Look for options like Manage TV Channels, Change Plan, or Edit Pack.
  4. Select Channels to Remove: Browse through your current channel list. Select the specific channels or add-on packs you wish to drop.
  5. Review and Confirm: Check the modified summary and price adjustment, then tap Confirm or Proceed. The changes will reflect on your set-top box shortly.

Method 2: Using SMS (Quick & Offline)

If you don’t have internet access on your phone, you can use a quick text message to drop individual channels.

  1. Find the Channel Number: Note the exact channel number or code of the channel you want to remove.
  2. Draft the Message: Type an SMS in the format:
REM [Channel Number] and send it to 54325. (For example, if you want to remove channel 105, text REM 105).
  3. Important Rule: Ensure you send this text message from your Registered Mobile Number (RMN).
  4. Confirmation: You will receive an incoming confirmation text once the system processes the drop request, and the channel will be deactivated from your package.

Method 3: Directly Through Your TV Screen

You can manage your subscriptions directly using your television remote without needing a smartphone.

  1. Turn on Equipment: Power on your TV and Airtel Digital TV set-top box.
  2. Tune to Channel 998: Switch to channel 998, which is Airtel’s dedicated account management channel.
  3. Follow On-Screen Prompts: Use your remote’s directional keys to navigate the interactive help menu to view your current active channels and select the ones you want to drop.
  4. Confirm Changes: Follow the on-screen prompts. You may receive an authorization code or confirmation step to finalize the unsubscription.

Method 4: Through the Official Airtel Website

If you prefer managing things via a desktop or laptop browser:

  1. Head over to the official Airtel website and log into your account using your Registered Mobile Number or Customer ID.
  2. Navigate to the Digital TV / DTH section under your dashboard.
  3. Click on Manage TV Channels or Change Base Pack/Add-ons.
  4. Select the channels you want to remove, check the updated monthly rental summary, and submit your changes.

Pro Tip: Dropping a channel reduces your Network Capacity Fee (NCF) or a-la-carte cost proportionately, which will automatically reflect on your next billing cycle or get adjusted against your current account balance if you are on a prepaid DTH plan.

Have you tried using any of these methods to clean up your channel pack, or are you running into any error messages with your registered mobile number?
